Check with the abstractors,
They have a tracking of mergers of the financial institutions, and they can
provide and include in the abstract information which may answer your
question.

I have a situation where a mortgage was given to Des Moines Savings and Loan
Association in 1980 (the maturity date is 2010).  The mortgage was released
in 1989 by Midland Financial Savings and Loan Association, but there was no
recitation in the release that Midland was the successor by merger to DM
Savings.  I recall having seen this representation in other mortgage
releases.  The examining attorney is requiring a release from DM Savings or
an affidavit setting out the information.  Can anyone help by providing me
the merger information or recording info so I can draft the appropriate
affidavit.
