Title: LAW LISTS: PREPAID LEGAL SERVICES, INC.

Opinion: You have requested an opinion concerning the propriety of an Iowa lawyer participating in a plan called Prepaid Legal Services, Inc. It's address is Ada, Oklahoma.

This plan was thoroughly reviewed by the Board and resulted in Formal Opinion of the Board 98-5, September 2, 1998, a copy of which is enclosed herewith.

That opinion acknowledges that Prepaid Legal Services Plan, Inc. was then in compliance with DR 2-103(D)(4)(a), (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f). This makes it an exception to the various restrictions on referral plans and makes it permissible for Iowa lawyers to participate therein.

For your information the Plan did file its annual report with the Client Security Commission on August 20, 1999.

At this time therefore there is nothing improper in a lawyer from Iowa participating in this Plan
